Talima Davis, Limegreen

Talima Davis, from Limegreen, has created an extensive line of organic room sprays, body bars, baby oils, candles and even detergent.

Hello Talima. How would you describe your business mission?

Most natural or even organic products are actually not organic or really natural. My mission is to make great products with organic and real all-natural ingredients that are safe for all members of every household.

How did you choose the manufacturing location in Brooklyn?

I chose to manufacture and produce everything here in Brooklyn in order to keep it local and provide people of my community with support and jobs, yes its more expensive to make it her but it’s the only way.

How many people do you employ currently?

We currently have 2 employees including myself, as well as a couple of interns.

How are the products made to get these results?

Limegreen Room Sprays

We use only the best ingredients and we do not add any fillers or additives, we let the goodness of the ingredients do their job.

What are the next steps of your expansion?

We recently moved into a new studio space and that will allow us to take on more accounts as well as offer more products to our customers.

How has your business changed in the past few years?

Our business has grown so much. We started off with room sprays and now we have bug spray, body wash, laundry detergent to name a few.

Now about the way you run your business. What drives you to do better every day?

What drives me to do better is myself. My needs are constantly changing because I am a wife now, a soon to be mother and now it makes me look at everything with a different angle. I want to make sure I am using the best products.

Do you have a daily routine that keeps you focused?

If I said yes, its be lying. Everyday I’m learning more and more about myself and Limegreen. I am learning to keep a schedule and to make time for doing things I enjoy like reading, yoga and mediation.

Do you think small businesses have an effect on the community?

Of course, Limegreen customers feel good that our products are made in Brooklyn NY and the money is put back in the community. We purchase local and support local businesses as well, so that money is constantly being recycled into the community

In your opinion, what’s the best part of being a business owner?

The best part is that I feel proud, proud that my products remove one less product on the shelf that has chemicals and toxins in them. Its a small change, but that’s all we need: a couple of small changes in the right direction.

Some advice you could give to someone starting a business today?

I would say START TODAY, if you feel passionate about it then go for it. Let your passion lead you and you can never go wrong.

What are some of your favorite small businesses?

I love SW Basics skincare, Meow Meow Tweet, Apotheke, Haven Home to name a few.
